The Friction tab in Insights shows you where users are running into trouble across your product, detected automatically from real sessions, no custom events, no engineering work. Each report links to the affected Feature, or you can ask Copilot to walk you through it.

What's in the Friction Reports table?
Reports cover a rolling 14-day window; there's no date range to change, so what you see reflects what's happened recently, not all time.
Column | What it shows |
Name | The friction report title |
Kind | The type of friction: Usability, Broken, Confusion, Blocked, or Inefficiency |
Users Affected | Distinct users who hit this friction in the last 14 days |
Affected Ratio | Share of your recently active users who hit this friction |
Feature | The Feature the friction relates to |
Discuss | Opens a conversation with Copilot about this specific report |
How do I filter and sort reports?
Three filters sit above the table: Kind, Feature, and Classification, and narrow the list down together (a report has to match every filter you've set). Reports sort by Users Affected, highest first, by default.
Click any column header to sort by it instead; click again to reverse the order. With more than 20 reports, use the pagination controls below the table to page through the rest.
What does Users Affected and Affected Ratio mean?
Metric | Definition |
Users Affected | Distinct users who hit this specific friction point in the last 14 days; a user only counts once, no matter how many times they hit it |
Affected Ratio | Users Affected divided by your account's active users (anyone with a finished session) over the same 14-day window, to two decimal places |
âšď¸ Affected Ratio is a share of your whole active user base, not of that Feature's users, and it isn't a share of your Monthly Tracked Users.
What are Kind and Classification?
Kind categorizes the type of friction a report represents: Usability, Broken, Confusion, Blocked, or Inefficiency.
Classification is a severity rating (High, Medium, or Low) derived from the same scoring Chameleon uses on a Feature's own Friction tab. Classification is a filter only; it isn't shown as its own column in this table.
How do I dig into a report?
Click anywhere on a report's row to open the affected Feature's detail view, with its Friction tab active and that exact report expanded. This view is read-only from here: you can look, but editing, confirming, or removing the Feature happens from the Features page itself.
Select Discuss on a report to open Copilot in a panel over the table. Copilot starts the conversation already briefed on that report: what the friction is, the affected Feature, and who it's impacting, so you can go straight into figuring out what to do about it.
What if the tab looks empty?
A new account, or one where Chameleon hasn't detected any friction yet, shows an empty state.
đ If the tab stays empty for longer than you'd expect, check that Sessions Summaries is on under Compass in your AI Controls settings, that your credit balance is above zero (Sessions stop being summarised at zero), and that you haven't excluded short sessions âSessions under 20 seconds are hidden by default, under More options).
