Linear integration

Connect Chameleon's Copilot to Linear's MCP to reference or update your Linear content

Written by Pulkit Agrawal

Connect Chameleon to Linear to use your Linear workspace directly within Copilot. Once connected, Copilot can query your Linear issues, projects, and teams using the Linear MCP.

Availability & Usage

🔐 Available for Startup, Pro, Growth, Enterprise

Ready to use with Copilot

⚙️ Enable from the Dashboard

How does this integration work?

The Linear integration connects your Chameleon account to your Linear workspace via OAuth. Once connected, Copilot automatically knows that Linear is available and can use the Linear MCP to list available tools and call them on your behalf.

This means you can ask Copilot to look up Linear data without switching context: it queries your workspace in real time and surfaces results inline in your Copilot session.

Mention @Chameleon in any Linear issue comment, and Copilot replies in the thread with full context from your Chameleon account. It's useful when the question comes up while you're already in Linear:

  • "@Chameleon what's the completion rate on that onboarding tour?"

  • "@Chameleon what did users say in the survey about this feature?"

ℹ️ The integration is connected at the account level by an Admin. Once connected, all team members with Copilot access can use Linear tools in their own Copilot sessions without additional setup.

ℹ When you @mention Chameleon in a Linear issue, Chameleon matches you to your Chameleon user account by email address. If the email on your Linear account isn't also on a user in your Chameleon account, Copilot replies with an error: "Could not find a matching user in your Chameleon account. Please ensure your Linear email matches your Chameleon account email."

Setting up the integration

Head to the Linear integration page in your Dashboard and click Connect to begin the OAuth flow. You'll be redirected to Linear to authorize Chameleon's access to your workspace.

Once connected, the integration page shows:

  • That the integration is active

  • A Disconnect option to revoke access at any time

🔐 Connecting or disconnecting the Linear integration requires the Admin role in Chameleon. If you receive a permissions error, ask your Chameleon Admin to connect the integration on your behalf.

How to use it?

When the integration is first connected, Chameleon reads your Linear workspace and uses it to fill in your Product Context:

  • Features hierarchy built from your Linear projects, so Copilot uses your real feature names in Experience copy, Segments, and analysis. Features Chameleon proposes are flagged as unconfirmed until someone on your team reviews them, and the tab shows how many are pending review.

  • A context and goals summary of what your product does and who it's for, drawn from your initiatives and active projects. Unlike Features, this is filled in directly. Once you edit it, Chameleon won't overwrite your version on a later refresh.

Both depend on what's in your workspace. If Chameleon doesn't find initiatives or projects to work from, it fills in what it can and leaves the rest to you. You can review and edit all of it on the Product Context page at any time.

Your Features list is also what Compass measures against. Compass tracks, which features each user uses, which ones they've stopped using, and where they hit friction, and are mapped to the features in your hierarchy.

How to use Linear with Copilot

Once the integration is connected, open Copilot and ask it anything about your Linear workspace. Copilot uses the Linear MCP to retrieve real-time data from your workspace. Examples of what you can ask:

  • Search for issues by title, assignee, or label

  • List open issues in a project or cycle

  • Look up team members and their current priorities
