βš™οΈ Review or get from the Dashboard

How do I review my Demo data?

πŸ‘‰ While editing a Demo, switch to the Analytics tab (next to 'Edit Demo') in the Dashboard to see performance for that specific Demo.

On the Demos page, you can see some basic metrics for all Demos on your account in the table:

  • Starts -- total number of times your Demo was started

  • Completions -- total number of times your Demo was completed

  • Completion rate -- the percentage of times your Demo was completed out of the total starts

You can also export a CSV for each Demo you create or send your Demo data to your analytics solutions (e.g. Amplitude, Mixpanel):

  • Find the CSV export option under the "Actions" menu.

  • Visit the "Share & Export" section to sync Demo events to your analytics tools.

What Demo data do I have available?

The Analytics page is divided into several key sections, each offering different insights into your demo's effectiveness. Let's break down each section.

Demo Performance

This is where you can measure how viewers interact with your Demo. You can review key metrics and adjust the reporting period so you can also analyze engagement trends over time (e.g., last week, last month, custom range). The performance section tracks:

  • Views -- total times your Demo was seen (for at least 2 seconds)

  • Starts -- total times viewers interacted with your Demo

  • Completions -- total number of times the CTA was clicked (on the last step in your Demo)

  • Starting rate -- percentage of views that led to starts

  • Completion rate -- percentage of starts that led to Demo completions

  • Average play time -- average time viewers spend viewing with your Demo

πŸ‘‰ Adjusting the time period in the "Demo performance" section will reflect in the "Email submissions" section as well.

What's the difference between "Views" and "Starts"?

Views represent the number of times your Demo was seen, and Starts represent how many times viewers have interacted with your Demo (e.g., clicked a hotspot, CTA, etc.)

How can I export my Demo data?

From the Analytics tab, you can download your data as a CSV file or a Google Drive sheet (for a specific time range or the whole period).

Your file will also include Demo events (e.g., "Demo Step Started/Completed", or "Demo Component Clicked") and attached properties (e.g. Step type, Step Title, Component copy).

πŸ‘‰ You can include in your export all User and Company attributes to see customers who viewed your Interactive Demos. Users who are not identified by Chameleon will show up as anonymous users.

What factors can influence the "Average play time"?

The "Average play time" metric can be influenced by several factors, including the overall length and complexity of your Demo, the engagement level of your content, and the user's intent.

A shorter average play time might indicate that users are quickly finding what they need, or conversely, that they are disengaging early due to lack of interest or difficulty. A longer average play time could signify deep engagement, or that users are struggling to navigate to relevant content.

We suggest you look at this metric in conjunction with "Starting rate" and "Completion rate", which can provide a more holistic understanding of user behavior. For example, a high starting rate, high completion rate, and short average play time might suggest an efficient and effective Demo, while a low completion rate with a long average play time could point to user frustration or confusion.

Email submissions

If your Demo includes email submissions in Chapters, the table in this section will display all emails submitted via your Demo, including the exact time the email was submitted.

You can download email submissions as a CSV.

Experiments

πŸ” A/B Testing is available with our Demos AI+ add-on.

If you are running A/B Tests on your Demos, you can see the results of your Experiments in this section. Switch between different Experiments (live vs. completed) to see their performance and navigate to your Test to adjust or end your Experiment.

Tips for analyzing Demo data

Your Demo Analytics provides tools to monitor, analyze, and improve your Demo's performance. By regularly reviewing these metrics and understanding your audience, you can enhance user engagement and increase completion rates. Here are some tips to keep in mind while looking at your Demo data:

  • The "Viewers" metric is a fundamental indicator of your Demo's reach and visibility. It's important to increase visibility (by embedding/sharing), especially if you're planning to run A/B tests on your Demos.

  • The "Starting rate" reveals how effective your Demo is at converting passive viewers into active participants.

  • The "Completion rate" is a strong measure of user satisfaction and the Demo's effectiveness in guiding users to the intended endpoint.

A low "Starting rate" might suggest that your Demo's introduction or call to action needs to be more compelling. A low "Completion rate" can indicate that users are encountering friction or losing interest midway through. In this case, you should try to simplify steps, clarify instructions, or enhance the value proposition.

Review your Demo's performance regularly over different timeframes (e.g., weekly, monthly) to identify trends. Are your metrics improving or declining? What changes did you make that might have influenced these trends? This perspective will help you understand the impact of your optimizations.
