With Chameleon's Google Analytics integration, you can analyze Chameleon Experiences alongside your other web data. This way, you can understand how your in-app efforts drive your product's adoption.ย We also support events being sent from Google Analytics 4.

How does this integration work?

Google Analytics is a web analytics tool that collects, analyzes, and reports data on website traffic and user interactions to help understand how visitors engage with websites, where they come from, what actions they take, and how they navigate content.

By integrating Chameleon with Google Analytics you can use Chameleon data to optimize performance, improve the user experience, and inform your next experiments.

You can set Google Analytics to be a Data Destination -- send Chameleon data to Google Analytics (for analyzing Experiences)

Setting up the integration

The Google Analytics integration can be enabled with a single click. Head over to the Integrations page in your Dashboard and search for Google Analytics. All you need to do is click "Enable".

This will automatically begin sending data to your Google Analytics account. It works by using the existing GA code on your website, so data will only be sent on pages where the GA script is present and working.ย

How to use it?

Leverage this analytics integration to understand how users engage with the in-app Experiences you create and identify where they still need help. Chameleon will automatically send Experience performance data, for each user, and you can view this within your GA account.

This includes the following events:

  • Chameleon Started Tour / Microsurvey

  • Chameleon Completed Tour / Microsurvey

  • Chameleon Step Seen

  • Button clicked

To see all Chameleon data sent to Google Analytics, use our schema below:

Event properties sent as part of these events include the Experience name, URL, and others where relevant (e.g. Step number).ย

You can also see the data appearing as part of your Real-Time Events reporting:

This can be helpful to assess how users from different sources are engaging with your Experiences (e.g. advertising campaigns), or the total number of Experiences seen or completed within a period.

A common issue we encountered

  • Not seeing data in my GA account. This could happen if you are sending data to the wrong GA account - please check which GA account is installed on the pages you expect to see data from. To check this, contact whoever installed your GA script, or learn more from this GA article.
